Billie Jean begins with a rich, skin-loving base of grass-fed & finished beef tallow, raw unrefined kokum butter, and our house-infused Calendula & Cacao Jojoba Oil. Together, they create a smooth, conditioning stick that glides comfortably across delicate underarm skin without feeling greasy or heavy.
Instead of baking soda, Billie Jean relies on a carefully balanced combination of magnesium hydroxide, non-nano zinc oxide, tapioca starch, and bamboo silica to help control odor, absorb excess moisture, and leave the skin feeling soft and comfortable. Cera Bellina and cetyl alcohol give the stick its creamy structure and silky glide, helping Billie Jean apply smoothly without the crumbly, powdery drag often associated with natural deodorant.

**Grass-Fed & Finished Beef Tallow
Our grass-fed & finished beef tallow is dry-rendered in-house and becomes part of Billie Jean's rich, conditioning base. Naturally abundant in skin-compatible fatty acids, tallow gives the deodorant a creamy feel and helps protect delicate underarm skin from feeling dry or stripped.
It also contributes to Billie Jean's smooth application, allowing the stick to soften slightly against the warmth of the skin as you apply it.
 
#Raw Unrefined Kokum Butter
Raw unrefined kokum butter is naturally firm yet surprisingly lightweight on the skin. It gives Billie Jean structure without relying on a large amount of hard wax while contributing a smooth, non-greasy finish. Rich in fatty acids, kokum butter helps soften and condition underarm skin while giving the finished stick enough body to hold its shape inside its paper tube.
 
**Organic Calendula & Cacao-Infused Jojoba Oil
Made slowly in-house, our Calendula & Cacao-Infused Jojoba Oil brings together golden jojoba with botanicals traditionally loved in skin care. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax with a composition that closely resembles the skin's natural sebum, giving Billie Jean exceptional slip without a heavy, oily finish. Calendula lends its gentle botanical character to the infusion, while cacao brings another beautiful layer of plant goodness to this signature Southern Roots ingredient.
The result is a silky golden infusion that helps Billie Jean glide effortlessly over the skin while keeping underarms feeling soft and conditioned.
 
*Natural Cera Bellina
Cera Bellina is a naturally derived modified beeswax that helps transform Billie Jean's oils and butters into a smooth, cohesive stick. It improves slip, helps suspend the mineral powders evenly throughout the formula, and gives the deodorant a creamy, polished texture.
Rather than creating a hard, waxy stick, Cera Bellina helps us achieve that balance between firm structure and easy glide.
 
*Natural Cetyl Alcohol
Despite its name, cetyl alcohol isn't the drying alcohol you may associate with conventional skin products. It is a fatty alcohol used to add structure, softness, and slip.
In Billie Jean, it helps the deodorant remain firm enough for its push-up tube while allowing it to glide smoothly across the skin without tugging or dragging.
 
Our Deodorizing & Absorbent Blend
*Magnesium Hydroxide
Magnesium hydroxide is at the heart of Billie Jean's baking-soda-free deodorizing system. Rather than blocking perspiration, it helps create an environment that is less favorable to the odor associated with sweat.
It gives us effective deodorant performance without relying on the high alkalinity of baking soda — making it a wonderful choice for a formula designed with sensitive underarms in mind.
 
*Non-Nano Zinc Oxide
Non-nano zinc oxide complements our deodorizing system while also bringing its familiar skin-protective and soothing qualities to the formula.
We use it at a carefully controlled level so Billie Jean gets its benefits without becoming thick, pasty, or leaving behind the heavy white cast common in mineral-rich deodorants.
 
**Organic Tapioca Starch
Finely textured tapioca helps absorb excess moisture and oil while giving Billie Jean a soft, velvety finish. Rather than loading the formula with heavy clays, we use tapioca to help create that dry-touch feel while preserving the creamy glide we wanted from the finished stick.
 
*Natural Bamboo Silica Powder
Lightweight bamboo silica contributes additional absorbency and helps refine Billie Jean's silky finish. Used in a small, purposeful amount, it helps reduce greasiness and gives the deodorant a smooth, soft-touch feel rather than a heavy powdery one.
 
**Organic Vitamin E
We use 100% pure, naturally sourced D-alpha tocopherol Vitamin E in Billie Jean.
Vitamin E provides antioxidant support for the oils and butters in the formula while also contributing its skin-conditioning benefits. Because Billie Jean is an anhydrous product made without a water phase, Vitamin E is used as an antioxidant — not as a preservative.
 
Botanical Oil Blends:
🌸 Ylang Ylang & Lavender
A soft floral pairing of sweet, exotic Ylang Ylang and gentle, herbaceous Lavender. Feminine and botanical with just enough sweetness, this blend leaves behind a delicate natural scent without the intensity of synthetic fragrance.
🌲 Vetiver & Cedarwood
Earthy Vetiver meets the warm, familiar aroma of Cedarwood for a deeper botanical blend. Woodsy, grounded, and quietly rugged, it's a simple natural scent for those who prefer something less floral.
 
How to Use
Gently push the bottom of the paper tube upward to expose a small amount of deodorant.
Apply a thin, even layer to clean, dry underarms. The warmth of your skin will help soften the surface of the stick as it glides.
